At LM Events, we live for love stories that surprise, delight, and dance to their own rhythm. Vanessa + Lazaro’s destination wedding in Savannah, Georgia checked all the boxes. Picture wildflowers, a rooftop cocktail hour, a disco ball, and a surprise marquee moment that had everyone cheering. Yep, this one’s a forever favorite!
From Teacher Life to True Love
Vanessa + Lazaro are both teachers in Miami (yes, the meet-cute happened at work. Adorable, right?). They’re all about exploring the outdoors, and Lazaro knew just where to pop the question: Puget Sound, Washington. Imagine this - cloudy skies, sand covered in candles, and Vanessa gushing over the setup, saying, “Whoever did this really loves their person.” Spoiler alert: It was all for her!
A Venue Switch + A Southern City That Stole Their Hearts
The couple originally planned to tie the knot in Asheville, but when their venue unexpectedly closed, they had to pivot and fast. While strolling through Savannah’s Forsyth Park, surrounded by moss-draped oaks and the iconic white fountain, they had a total movie moment. Later, a visit to the rooftop bar at Perry Lane Hotel sealed the deal: this charming city had “wedding magic” written all over it.
Planning a Destination Wedding in 3 Months? Challenge Accepted.
With just three months on the clock, Vanessa + Lazaro pulled together a dream team of vendors to make their Savannah wedding vision come to life. Forecasts threatened rain, but wedding week arrived with sunshine, cooler temps, and a whole lot of love.
The Ceremony: Lush, Lighthearted & Full of Meaning
Vanessa’s best friend (and Maid of Honor) Emily handled hair and makeup, giving her that effortless, classic look. She wore a sleek, long-sleeve gown paired with a custom veil embroidered with their names and favorite blooms (cue happy tears). Lazaro looked dapper in a navy suit, floral pocket square, and a handmade “V” bracelet. Details, darling!
The ceremony in Forsyth Park was bursting with color thanks to wildflower arrangements that popped perfectly against the lush greenery. The wedding party brought style in green, blue, and black. Vanessa’s aunt officiated in baby blue, and flower men Anthony + Johnathan hilariously (and proudly!) covered the aisle in petals. Guests laughed, cried, and cheered as the couple sealed the deal then toasted with champagne right there in the park.
Trolley Rides, Rooftop Vibes, and a Marquee Surprise
Next stop? Iconic. Guests hopped on a white open-air trolley and cruised past the Savannah Theatre, where Vanessa + Lazaro’s wedding announcement was lit up on the marquee. Talk about a moment!
Cocktail hour took place at Peregrin on the rooftop of Perry Lane Hotel, with sweeping city views, craft cocktails, and a chef’s kiss sunset. After mingling and soaking in the vibes, guests made their way down to The Library for an intimate dinner.
Cozy Dinner + Secret Dance Floor Reveal
The dinner space was straight out of a dream: long tables lined with bud vases, flickering candles, and floral accents across the fireplace mantle. Guests signed river stones at the welcome table later to be added to the couple’s garden. Personal, thoughtful, and oh-so-sweet.
But the real surprise? A hidden dance floor tucked away in “Easy Street,” a private space with black-and-white checkered floors, lounge furniture, and sheer white curtains. No one knew it was there until the doors opened and the disco ball sparkled. Cue gasps, cheers, and an instant dance party!
Sliders, Cake, Popcorn & Epic Moves
Dinner was a delicious combo of sliders and a full roasted pig for a build-your-own taco + tostada bar. Guests raved, toasts were made, and once the cake was cut, the dancing began and did not stop. There was even popcorn and cake just outside the dance floor to keep guests fueled for the fun.
Vanessa + Lazaro danced the night away with their crew, surrounded by love, laughter, and the magic only Savannah can deliver.
